I have worked with the YMCA for a little over a year now as a summer camp counselor and an after-school aid. I also have worked with my local church’s children’s ministry on Sundays. Since I was 14 I have occasional babysat my Niece who is now 5. My sophomore year of High-school I was an after school tutor at Scenic Middle School.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I think that the most important part about being a nanny is helping the children learn and grow every day. It is important to teach children every day things such as cleaning up after themselves, managing emotions, and learning about key values. at my workplace, we have something called the “core four values.” These values are being caring, honest, respectful, and responsible. Once a month with the elementary schoolers that I work with, I go over some expectations that follow the core values. My number one rule is to have fun!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment as a counselor is when I had a girl come up to me in the kids ministry and yell out my summer camp nickname and hug the back of my knees. I also loved going on field trips with the kids because we would all sing songs the whole way there.
