Hi my name is Victoria Smith, but please call me Torie. I am a current student at UW Tacoma, and also work in childcare part time. Working with kids is something that has been really rewarding for me over the past few years. I would say I have a very peppy spirit that translates very well to the kids I've worked with. There is nothing like seeing a kids face light up when they realize you are just as into a game or activity as they are. I have a serious passion for social emotional development, and have fine tuned my skills to communicate in innovative ways. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have had two childcare positions as an assistant ceramics instructor at Open Arts Studio, and as an assistant after school teacher at Charles Wright Academy. These entailed creating fun clean up games, working through conflicts, instructing, coming up with games, and so much more. I loved my time with both of these companies, and genuinely miss every kid I met worked with. I also nannied throughout high school, and began nannying full time in the past two years. My most recent work has been working with an 11 month old, but I have nannied kids k-12.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am super big on getting outside to do any sort of activity from swimming to kick ball, kids need fresh air. Physiological health can be so crucial to our development, and can create healthy habits going into adulthood. I also love art, and getting to try new crafts with kids. I especially love painting because kids come up with things we would have never dreamed of.
