The most important part about being a nanny...
Kids thrive when they feel safe, understood, and supported—and being that consistent, reliable person in their daily life can make a big difference. It’s not just about following a routine or keeping things in order; it’s about showing up with patience, empathy, and genuine care. Every child is unique, and as a nanny, I believe it's my job to meet them where they are, help them grow, and make them feel seen and valued every day.
My experience with special needs children...
As a Behavioral Technician, I worked closely with children on the autism spectrum, helping them build communication, social, and daily living skills through individualized behavior plans. I also contributed to research with families of children with special needs, including autism and Down syndrome, where I supported data collection and family-centered interviews. These experiences deepened my understanding of neurodiversity and strengthened my ability to provide compassionate, individualized care.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was helping a shy 4-year-old I cared for gain confidence in reading. Every afternoon, we’d pick a new story and take turns reading aloud. At first, they were hesitant and would whisper or ask me to read instead. But over time, with encouragement and fun storytelling voices, they began reading whole pages with pride. The day they read an entire book to me without help—and then asked to read it again to their parents—was such a rewarding and joyful moment. Seeing a child grow and believe in themselves like that is exactly why I love this work.
