The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is ensuring that your kids are nurtured, safe and having fun. Safety is a non negotiable in anything that a nanny should be doing because every child deserves it physically and emotionally as well. Nurturing to me means that you a creating an environment where a child can thrive best . This looks like creating structure, curating activities that encourage curiosity, being consistent on how you show up for them . Lastly, fun is always going to be present when you are engaging with kids because of how expressive they are. Always lean into fun no matter how big and small the moments may be every kids should enjoy your presence .
My experience with special needs children...
I was caregiver for an autistic child. I would come to his house and help him get prepared to go to day care. These tasks included making lunch, helping put shoes on and backpack . I would then take him to school and support him there .He struggled to stay engaged during class and had behavioral challenges so I created activities for him to stay involved and helped him with social interaction .
The most important part about being a nanny...
The sweetest memory I have is when the family I was nannying for told me that the little one said my name. She was very young and expressive but did not talk much so I found that to be super heart warming. She also took her first steps with me so I enjoyed being there for that experience .
