A little bit about me

I'm 26 years old with a bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders. I've been working as a substitute teacher in all grades and all classrooms (general and special education) for over two years, and I have really loved it! It is nice to have the variety and the flexibility, but above all, I love being a cheerleader for each student I come across. If I only see a student for even 10 minutes out of a day, my goal is to leave them feeling loved and encouraged. A couple of hobbies I have include yoga and singing in choir, which are things that I adore! I am open to part time, full time, or even just occasional gigs.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked as a substitute teacher in all grades and all classrooms for over two years (minus summers, since there is no subbing in Cache Valley over the summer). By all grades, I really mean it--preschool all the way through high school. I would say I'm most comfortable in preschool/younger elementary ages. And by all classrooms, I mean I've subbed in general education classrooms and in special education classrooms. I've also subbed for more specialized teachers like speech therapists (which is the eventual career goal). I love to encourage good language learning with the skills I've learned from subbing and also from my university studies. This job has given me a capacity to jump into new and unfamiliar routines with ease and flexibility, and I will do my best to support the learning and growing of your children!
In addition to substitute teaching, I have experience babysitting a lot when I was younger, as well as helping watch over loved one's little ones more recently.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading books animatedly, listening to their stories, doing little crafts, playing pretend or made-up games with toys, playing outside on playground equipment or trampolines, dance parties

My experience with special needs children...

As a substitute teacher, I have been in resource rooms in small groups and one-on-one as well as helped in essential elements classrooms for students with high special needs. I never did any bathrooming because I wasn't allowed, but I am somewhat familiar with the behaviors of these children and know very basic signs in American sign language.
