Hi! My name is Valeria, I am from the Dominican Republic and am currently working towards a degree in Journalism with a focus in Sports media. I absolutely love working with children! I have previous experience from working as a camp counselor and kindergarten teacher's assistant. I am very family oriented and, also, the oldest of 12 cousins— which means built-in babysitter for the aunts and uncles. I am also fluent in both English and Spanish, so if you're interested in your kids learning a little bit of a second language, I can definitely help with that. As you can probably tell from my studies, I have always adored sports. Not just watching, but playing them. Throughout my childhood and teenage years I have played soccer, basketball, tennis, volleyball...even karate. I am an active and energetic person, so I enjoy outdoor activities. I can assure you your babies will be safe and cared for. It would be a pleasure to work with you!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a camp counselor for the entire summer of 2023. Also, last year I held a full-time job as a kindergarten teacher's assistant for a whole semester!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I looove browsing pinterest and finding arts and crafts for kids to do. I also enjoy cooking activities, along with coloring and legos.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me the most important part is being aware that these are people in formation. You have to be very careful about how you approach everyday situations because, even though it's sometimes hard to realize, kids always remember every little thing. I also love working with kids because I can learn just as much from them as they can from me. It is a tough but very rewarding job!

My experience with special needs children...

During my time as a kindergarten teacher, I worked with a kid who has autism. I would often have to sit beside him and help keep him on track with classwork and activities. I also had a little girl who had a disability with her legs and use a walker. She needed assistance with going to the bathroom and sometimes carrying her to places where her walker could not go. Also, even though I have not previously worked with children with ADHD, I have it myself. So I have grown being aware of ways to approach this hyperactivity and lack of focus or motivation.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My most memorable moment was when I worked at the school. I had these little girl who would hug me first thing every morning and bring me a juice box or snack every day! We then received a message from her mom asking which of her daughter's classmates never brought lunch because her daughter kept sneaking extra snacks to her lunchbox. It was so sweet and hilarious.
