I've been working as a respite care provider for military families for a little less than a year, and in that role I've supported a child with Autism and Down syndrome. But my deepest teacher has been my eight-year-old brother, who has level 3 severe autism. Growing up alongside him has shaped not just how I care for children, but who I am as a person.
