Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteered at a summer camp for children from low income families. I worked with the art teacher there at camp Oty'okwa and helped the kids explore their creativity. I have also cared for children in my family and neighborhood.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love painting with kids and really encouraging their creative side. If they aren't feeling creative, I like to do puzzles, games, or some cooking with them. I love using any activity to bond with children so I basically take them along on some type of journey every day. Teaching kids is one of my passions so I love to engage them while we have fun. Even if it's as simple as blowing bubbles or going to a park, there's always something to learn from them and for them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
is connecting with the kids. Learning from their perspective and teaching from ours.
My experience with special needs children...
I've helped out my friend while she babysat her brother, who has special needs. This included explaining things to him, helping to calm him down when he got upset, taking him to the pool, and entertaining him. I am a very patient person and although my experience with special needs children may be limited, I know I am a good candidate to look after them and accommodate their needs.
