I love child-led play, allowing children choice in what activities they do is amazing for their growth! Sometimes, I also do "growth-based" activities. Things that challenge their brain without them realizing are always a plus!

The most important part of being a nanny is that you have a good relationship with the kids you're nannying. I know I've done something right when I ask a child who they'd come to if something bad or scary happened, and Mom and Dad were busy, and they say, "you!" I've done something right if they feel safe and loved with me.

Several members of my family have Autism, and I've taken care of Autistic children since my brother was born. Aside from that personal experience, I am dual majoring in special education and am learning everything I need to know to be a great special education teacher!
The most important part about being a nanny...
This was when I was first working with kids for my degree, so it was more of a teaching moment than a nanny moment, but in my first school, on my last day there, many kids came up to me with all sorts of cards and mini-projects. They told me all about how much they loved having me around and how I'd changed their days around, and they said they always missed me on days I wasn't there. It really made me realize how many kids I had many an impact on already!
