A little bit about me

Hi there! I'm Megan, but I prefer to be called Monarch. I am a 21-year-old student going for a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with an interest in developmental psychology.
I am looking for a summer job while I am in town before returning to college out of town in the fall.
My experience with children includes my many years as a Girl Scout, and interning in a Teacher Assistant-like position for a 1st grade class during my senior year of high school. During that internship, my curiosity and interest in possibly going into childcare somewhat broke out of its shell, after years of being told by a few family members how well I interact with kids.
If you work from home but feel you need a little assistance in keeping an eye on your child, or your child wants to go out to the park, or needs assistance with their play or an activity, and you're unable to do so, I would say I am a good match.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

During my senior year of high school, I interned at an Elementary School for a 1st grade class. The internship lasted two months, where I was on the job an average of three days a week for four hours each day. I assisted the students in the day's class work and activities, including math, reading, and coloring, as well as kept the children and classroom organized and clean.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Assisting in their homework, coloring, reading, playing with their toys and following along with their stories (Barbie, LPS, etc.). Basically, I will try and follow along with whatever the child(ren) want to do activity-wise, while keeping them safe and happy.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny or babysitter is creating a safe and engaging environment for the child(ren) while their usual caregivers are unavailable. It's not about replacing the caregiver(s), but providing support for both the child(ren) and family.

My experience with special needs children...

I forgot the name of the class, but during my senior year of high school, I interacted with and assisted students with special needs in their activities and lessons. I would help them in practicing their motor skills with activities like putting clothes onto clothing hangers, and social skills when interacting with fellow classmates and during off-campus trips to nearby businesses.
