More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I grew up with a single mom who worked 24/7 to provide for my siblings and myself. During this time it was my responsibility to bathe, cook for, clean after, and put my younger siblings to bed. Due to me having to play a parent role at such a young age, it has taught me how to look after younger children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

My favorite activity to do with children is art. Drawing, painting, or even little crafts I see on Pinterest. Art has always been a big hobby of mine and I believe it’s one of the best ways to express yourself and or thoughts. I love seeing the creativity children withhold because it reminds me of both, my younger and current self.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Understanding how to work with children in a way that helps not just you but the child as well. Some children require more of this and less of that, the sooner you understand and learn what the child you’re caring for needs, the easier the connection will be. It is always important to remember that the child comes first, they’re away from their parents which can be scary. it is your job to show the child that you are the second safest option outside of their mother and father.

My experience with special needs children...

While working at the simple room during the summer program called “Project 24”, I was a grade guide for two special needs children. What I learned through observing and working with these children is that they can become overstimulated very easily and that it is always good to make them feel as though they are safe and give them space when it’s needed or required.
