More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was camp counselor/leader, working with kids between the ages of 3 to 14. I would help with activities and making sure that they understood what was going on.
My mom is also a teacher, so I have gotten dragged along to help with any of her classes, or shows that the kids were putting on.
I also babysat for a couple of years, with my focus primarily on toddler age. I did occasionally babysit older kids as well, but not as often.
Lastly, during my senior year of High school, my communications class would visit the elementary school during our class period, and we would help with any classwork they needed help with. This is eventually what led me to get my paraprofessional license! :)

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
MUSIC!! Whether that be singing to it, and or dancing with it!
LEGOS! Look, I’m 20 years old, and I still ask my mom for legos every time a birthday or a holiday around! (Also, coming from someone who had to do PT with my hands because I couldn’t open a door when I was younger — it helps with those fine motor skills with the small pieces)
PLAY PRETEND! Not to toot my own horn, but I can do a pretty sweet Batman impression! Plus, I love acting, so making up silly scenarios is right up my alley! Also, it does help with developing creativity (my dolls had some DRAMA when I used to play with them).

The most important part about being a nanny...
Flexibility! Life could change in an instant, so having the ability to work around things that might interfere with a set schedule is something really nice.
Also, if you have pets, that’s a bonus for me! I would absolutely take care of the pets as well! In exchange, my payment shall be booping the snoot and the occasional cuddle if your pet is comfortable with that.

My experience with special needs children...
Down Syndrome/Autism/ADHD (of all levels) — I worked in a special needs classroom for a bit for kids with high support needs. My mom also had a couple of students with various neurodivergent disorders, and I helped a lot with those who needed a little extra support.
Also… ME! I was diagnosed with ADHD at 14, and I was diagnosed with Autism when I was 18, after I made the decision to get myself tested. It was honestly a huge relief to know that all my struggles in life weren’t just because I was “a little quirky” as my mother said after I got my diagnosis, but something that many people go through. So, if your child (or you) is diagnosed with any of these — ADHD or Autism — I understand the struggles that come with it, and how it affects everything.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Okay, well, it’s not exactly a “nanny” moment, but I think one of my favorite moments with my previous charges has got to be when I was babysitting, and the kid was asleep, so I was picking up the mess and their cat was meowing up a storm, and I see the cat had a… leftover gift from the litter box that was stuck in his fur. But this cat was loud — like he could’ve had a career as a professional siren — and woke up the kid that I was babysitting, which led to a very looney tunes esc. chase scene between the kid chasing the cat to grab the dingle berry, and me chasing after to stop him from yanking it off the cat. I eventually managed to help the poor cat, and ironically enough, I ended up adopting the cat because the kid kept getting scratched because he had zero boundaries, and the cat was a grumpy old man. #freecat 🤪
ANYWAYS, that still makes me giggle to this day. RIP Lucifer the Cat; your memory lives on forever with that silly moment!
