Since I was 12 years old, I have been babysitting for family members or members of my church. My primary experience with nannying has come from summer experiences every year since I was 16 years old. For two years, I worked in the home of a family caring for their 10-year-old son. He did not need intensive care, but more companionship, as well as someone to ensure that he ate properly and was safe throughout the day. I was also responsible for making sure he had done his chores. In the summer of 2009, I worked for a single mother of two girls, ages 6 and 9, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:50 p.m., Monday through Friday. They needed more care than the previous child, as they had more behavioral difficulties. I was also in the home for more hours each week, so I was able to develop strong, trusting relationships with them. In 2010, I lived in an orphanage in Ghana for two months. We woke up around 6:00 a.m. each day to bathe and get breakfast to 27 children. I was also one of several volunteers responsible for taking children to the doctor, administering daily medication, and going to market for the sisters at the orphanage. The children I have babysat include infants up to 12 years old, overnight care, and groups of up to four children.

Hire a nanny with great references
Kayla R.

This was our first experience with a sitter and we were so impressed with the level of care Kayla provided. She was thoughtful in her interactions with the children. I would recommend her services to anyone. My children woke up asking for her to return again. We are thankful for Kayla and the chance to get away from home and relax. - Joshua

Olivia P.

Olivia was very responsible, had great time management, and very flexible. She always kept the kids entertained by coloring, playing outside, completing puzzles, and taking them to activities. My kids were always so excited for the days when Olivia would come and watch them. I would highly recommend Olivia if anyone is in need of a sitter! - Madison

Larrita B.

Larrita is the most hard-working person I have ever worked alongside. She is trustworthy and reliable, and she loves children. - Marvera

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Adamsville, AL

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Adamsville Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Adamsville?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in AL? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny.
