A little bit about me…

Hi!

My name is Mikayla. I have been working with children for as long as I can remember, and so, when it came to choosing my first job, an educational daycare environment seemed like a good fit. Because I enjoyed teaching the little ones so much, I eventually made the transition into the classroom where I specialized in Special Education as a paraeducator. Since my days in the classroom, I have explored other fields, such as logistics, but have continued to provide care for many loved ones and their littles. I am looking forward to working with littles and their families once again and being a positive presence in a family's day to day life.

A little bit about me…

Hi, I am Mariah, and I was raised in southwest WI. I grew up with 4 siblings, and my mother had a daycare most of my life. I am very comfortable working with kids. I have gone to college for a few different areas but al mainly medical, so I have a health background! I was also raised with a special needs brother, and I worked in a long term care facility; so, I do have some experience with special needs as well. I am new to the area!

A little bit about me…

Hello, I’ve been a professional nanny on/ off since my daughter was 3 (33 years) but steadily for the last 12 years. I was also an assistant pre school teacher for 2.5 years.
I absolutely love kids ( and animals) and am a highly engaged nanny who loves to read, sing and play instruments, be creative, spend a lot of time enjoying and exploring nature as well as finding ways throughout our day to build self esteem, excellent communication and coping skills and a deep feeling of being loved for exactly who they are! I’m very inspired by Montessori education, Waldorf education, I’m a big fan of Janet Landsbury and RIE parenting. Having cared for kids throughout my life, I’ve learned to observe and tailor their learning through imaginative play. My wonderful grand daughter, Maxine, will be joining me and she’ll be 2 by the end of September. I will absolutely love your kids and care for them as if they were my own. We hope to find a family with long term potential!

A little bit about us…

No prior work with special needs required, just a willingness to learn new routines and an open mind to a new care structure and a unique child.

Pets are welcome to come with you.
Nanny sharing is welcome.

Looking for a nanny for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays (or Mon/Wed/Fri) from 7:00 am to 3 pm, in home. This schedule is flexible to your needs, I simply need care at least 3 days a week for 6-8 hours. This would be a part time permanent position.

My child is 14 and is developmentally delayed. She is mobile and verbal, is medium level energy and needs a nap most days.

She loves going to the movies, the park, soccer games and playing out of doors. She is very happy to be out and about doing activities, grocery shopping with you, walking your dog, etc. She also enjoys books, stories, general silliness, costumes, and feeling like she is helping out with things - such as running the vacuum cleaner or helping other kids clean up their toys.

I am 100% happy to nanny share - we have a large, clean, pet free house and yard (with a slide/swing set) in a quiet neighborhood.

I will conduct a video interview to start and an in person second interview if the job is a good fit for you.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Burien, WA

Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.

Burien Nanny Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a nanny?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
  • Are you open to a live in arrangement in Burien? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
  • Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Burien?
  • Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
  • What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
  • What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.

Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny

Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
