A little bit about me
I am the middle child of a retired Highschool US history teacher/football coach and a Para Educator with an older and younger brother. I enjoy being an Auntie to my 4 nephews. My interests included a good British's 1920 or 40s mystery to read and my knitting projects. I am currently working for a Tax Lawyer and a grammar school Admin and have work for them the past 9 years. My duties' have been a little house cleaning, doing the washing as well as school pick up/drop off, getting the 16 and 12 year olds to appointments, hang out dates, school and sporting activities.

A little bit about me
My name is Sarah. I have over 40 years of childcare experience.
I believe children thrive the more they are loved. Parents always know best and I take pride in fostering the child parent relationship through talk, play, and supporting the rules and schedules of the family.
I have spent most of my career taking care of newborns. I have been fortunate to form very close bonds with all the babies I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I pride myself in being nurturing and loving. I believe being understanding with a child is one of the most important things you can do. Their feelings are just as real as anyones, and they need to know that. They should never feel as if they are not being heard.
It's important to me to know that a baby feels safe and loved in my care. They will always come first.

Understand Nanny Responsibilities in Olympia, WA
Before beginning the search for a nanny, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a nanny is the right choice for your child care needs. In hiring a nanny, first, you should think through what responsibilities you expect your nanny to handle. With that information, you can create a profile so that nannies can reach out to you. The boundaries for nannies duties vary from family to family. In general, a nanny is responsible for making sure your children’s needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example, housekeeping or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your nanny before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location can impact how much you should pay your nanny.
Olympia Nanny Interviews
Once you start connecting with prospective nannies, the next step is a nanny interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some nanny interview questions to consider asking:
- Do you have experience being a nanny?
- How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?
- What sort of household tasks are you open to doing?
- Are you open to a live in arrangement in Olympia? Do you have experience being a live in nanny?
- Are you open to being a nanny in a nanny share?
- Do you have any references?
- Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Olympia?
- Do you have a driver’s license in WA? Do you own a car?
- What salary are you seeking? Are you open to being paid through direct-deposit, pay stubs?
- What are your expectations around over-time pay and vacation time?
During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references, and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a prospective nanny, it’s essential to make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your nanny. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around nanny responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming! And of course, as you learn how to hire a nanny, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
Daycare vs. Hiring a Nanny
Choosing between putting your child in daycare and hiring a nanny can be a tough decision. While nannies are often more expensive, they provide individualized attention and flexibility. Daycares, on the other hand, prioritize socialization. Our Nanny vs Daycare guide can help you determine what's best for your family.
