A little bit about me

Hi my name is Katie Sears and I’m a junior attending Purdue University. I’m home looking for a job for the summer so I will be here till the middle of August. I’ve babysat here and there over the years and most recently babysat a 3 1/2 year old boy last summer for overnight weekends and date nights. During the school year I babysat a two year old boy and five year old girl which I drove to and from preschool while I watched the younger brother and did other small tasks for. I was previously a lifeguard for 4 1/2 years so I’ve been First Aid and CPR certified twice. Along with lifeguarding I’ve been a learn to swim instructor, special olympics coach, and given private swim lessons to ages 1-15.

A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Gabrielle. I'm a recent graduate from Valparaiso University with a BS in Biology. I am looking to nanny or babysit for families in the area prior to me moving out of the state for work in August. I have been babysitting since I was in middle school, so I have lots of experience. Outside of babysitting, I have previously worked in an Emergency Room and have first aid knowledge. I look forward to meeting you and your family!

How to Hire a Short-Term Nanny in Valparaiso, IN

Nanny Lane helps you find a short-term nanny in Valparaiso, IN for a temporary need, from a few weeks to a few months.

We offer nanny services including background checks, Agency, and nanny payroll. Start by posting a profile with a job description, and soon you can start connecting with nannies who fit your family.

What Is a Short-Term Nanny?

A short-term nanny works for a set period rather than as an ongoing hire. Families look for short-term help when a parent is on leave, when they are between nannies, for a new baby, or while they are relocating or traveling. The end date is agreed at the start.

Common Responsibilities of Short-Term Nannies in Valparaiso, IN

A short-term nanny takes on the same duties as any nanny, including caring for children, preparing meals, and keeping to routines, and often starts quickly. Because the role is temporary, they need a clear handover covering schedules, allergies, and house rules on day one.

What to Consider Before You Hire

Be upfront about the start date, the end date, and the chance of an extension. Fixed-term roles still benefit from clear pay terms, and a written agreement helps both sides. Short-term nannies who can start quickly are in demand, so message early.

Short-Term Nanny Interview Questions

Once you find a promising candidate, invite them for an interview to see if they would be a great fit for your family. Here are some questions you can ask:

  • Are you available for our dates, and could you extend if we need it?
  • How quickly could you start?
  • Have you worked short-term or fill-in roles before?
  • How would you get to know our routines quickly?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR?

At this stage, request their references and ask their references some questions. After preparing the job offer or contract, we recommend that you run a background check before the start date.
