A little bit about us

We have 3 kids, a boy and 2 girls. As of Feb 2026, we are looking for a nanny/babysitter for this summer when the kiddos are out of school. The care would be for my 4 year-old son and 7 year-old daughter. We would need care from Monday & Tuesday from 7am-3pm starting June 1 2026 through August 4, 2026, with possibility of some extra hours during the week depending on our work schedule.

Our ideal candidate would be someone who able to teach the kiddos a thing or two while out of school, nothing has to be structure since kiddos learn through active play, reading, seeing and experience.

What Are Short-Term Nanny Jobs?

Short-term nanny jobs are temporary positions with a set end date, such as covering a parental leave, a family move, a summer, or a gap between nannies. They suit nannies who like variety, are between jobs, or want to try a family before committing.

Types of Short-Term Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Short-term jobs can be full-time or part-time and last from a few weeks to several months. Responsibilities are the same as in an ongoing job, with an emphasis on getting up to speed quickly. Check the dates, the hours, and whether there is a chance of the role being extended.

How to Interview for Short-Term Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

  • What are the start and end dates, and could the job be extended?
  • Is the schedule full-time or part-time?
  • What is the reason for the temporary role?
  • How will I be paid, and is there a written agreement?
  • What routines and house rules should I know on day one?

Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
