More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

For a little under a year, I worked at a preschool as a teacher's assistant. This job required me to keep an eye on between 6-15 children all at once, and I would clean up after. During my time there, I learned how to respectfully and carefully discipline children, teach them good habits, improve their communication with kids their age, and more. The parents loved me, and would hire me to babysit since they trust me, however their kids were already enrolled into preschool. I have also taken child development classes for two whole semesters, covering CPR and first aid. I dont have the certifications for them, but I'm pursuing them right now. I have also babysat for my sister, watching my 2 year old nephew. I would wake up at 7 am, wash him, brush his teeth and get him clothed. Then I'd cook his breakfast, feed him, change him, and play with him. I'd watch him for 7 hours straight and lay him for a nap, and only sat him down to watch TV for 1 hour max. I love kids, and wont disappoint!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Activities I enjoy doing with children are arts and crafts, singing, playing sports, and even having regular conversations. I love talking to kids because they are such interesting little beings, and are full of surprises. Sometimes they think more intricately than adults!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny/babysitter is having the passion for it. I believe anyone will do anything to make money nowadays, but that doesn't mean that they do a well enough job, due to them not liking the field they are working in. That's why I feel that WANTING to work with kids is what allows you to carry out your job in the most beneficial and reliable way. I truly love understanding kids and building relationships with them, and this is why I'm choosing this type of work.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was when I put my 2yr old nephew to sleep. My day started at 7 am: I freshened him up, got him dressed and fed, then we spent time playing. When it came time to put him to bed, he was fussy, missing his mom. I rocked him in my arms as he screamed in my ear, kicked, and bit me, but I stayed patient for 30 minutes straight. He eventually calmed down, but the moment I moved, he’d start crying again. I held him until he started drifting off to sleep, despite my aching back and the heaviness of holding him. He pulled my hair, and after standing in that position for over an hour, my body felt weak. Despite this, I stayed focused and reminded myself that mothers go through this every day, which helped me stay strong. When I finally placed him in his bed, tears filled my eyes because I realized I’d do anything to comfort him, even if it caused me pain. The back pain for days was bittersweet, and reminded me of the deep connection I had with this little human.
