More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My childcare experience starts with paid babysitting between the ages of 16-18 years old. I regularly babysat 2 young children on the weekends. I worked as a YMCA summer camp counselor with 5 year olds the summer after I turned 18. Then, I spent just over 2 years in an daycare facility primarily as a VPK assistant teacher, and as a floater between infants, 1s, and 2 year olds, as well as a lead 2 year olds teacher. Most recently, I have spent the past year working as a full time nanny for a family whom I began working for when the baby was 3 months old.
I am DCF certified and my bachelors degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders is heavily based in child development education.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As a very creative person who also has extensive child development education, some activities I enjoy doing with children include creating expressive art, engaging in sensory play, doing active play for sensorineural development, singing and dancing to music, reading face to face as much as possible, engaging in narrative play and child-led play, going on walks, running around outside or at the park, playing with chalk or bubbles, and water play. I find so much joy in every minute spent with little ones and typically like to have structured activities planned throughout the day. The possibilities are endless!

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part of being a nanny is to be present and engaged. To be slow and very intentional with my time with your children, in order to best aid in the children’s’ health and development while also making sure they have so much fun every day. It is also very important to me to make sure children feel safe and supported as well.

My experience with special needs children...

I have some limited experience working with autistic and developmentally delayed children, as I had many in my classes over the years. I myself am neurodivergent and I approach these children in a very empathetic, understanding, supportive, and calm way. However, my educational background includes extensive special needs and child development education

The most important part about being a nanny...

As a nanny to an infant, my favorite experience so far has been watching my nanny baby develop Into such a funny, bright, amazing little person from a newborn. Every little milestone was so incredible to experience! I was nearly jumping up and down the first time he took consistent steps. I loved every day spent with him, even down to the little things, like him saying “book!” And plopping himself into my lap to read the same book over and over again 10 times, teaching him how use a straw, fork and spoon and watching him grow into feeding himself completely independently at 13 months. Having to turn my head away from in order for him to fall asleep and take a nap because he would laugh uncontrollably otherwise. There are many many more stories,
all of it has been a wonderful, joyful experience!
