The most important part about being a nanny...
Listening to the kids , on what they are comfortable with and not comfortable with. I also think it’s good to show that you are there for them to create that bond and trust so it does not feel awkward or forced ! Its important to teach them its OKAY to be a kid.
My experience with special needs children...
As I have mentioned I am currently a Behavioral technician that works in a clinical setting (currently working to do at home services as well). I have worked with children who were ages 5 and older.. the oldest being 16 years old. I know how to build rapport as well.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Well I’ve help volunteer in a middle school summer school class. I love being able to be a safe space for the students and having that bond where they felt like they could tell me anything or come to me for advice. I was able to really motivate these students to come to school and want to engage in the summer school activities we were doing ! It felt good to know that they really did enjoy my company and my presence because I knew how it was to be at school and not having that motivation but there is always going to be that one person at your school who you will remember and to know I was that person for those students felt amazing !
