Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I think it's very important for children to discover the world around them. I often took the toddler I nannied to the park. And it wasn't just about putting her in a swing; we would touch leaves, identify birds and geese. I often loved doing puzzles with her and creating sensory activities. We would put different colored tape around the house and then remove the tape from surfaces by their color. I often played hide and seek with her as well! We would hide toys around the house and spend our time finding each one and then arranging tea parties subsequently. I absolutely love physically engaging with children and treating them as individuals with a mind just as intellectual and intelligent as mine. I also would ask her to assist me in meal prepping and would help her whisk eggs with me!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Treating children as the sentient and capable beings that they are; individuals with minds and wants of their own. I like treating children almost as if they are adults; as in respecting their autonomy and their will but providing gentle guidance at the same time. Children are such observant and creative creatures with such admirable faith that adults lack. I also think nourishing their emotional health is so important and such a valuable facet of their being. I think nannies fill in the little blank spaces and unanswered questions that arise between their rapid and hectic lives; and not just fill in - but fulfill the parts of ourselves we unknowingly suppress as we grow up.
