A little bit about me

Hi there! My name is Alaina. I was president of NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) at Illinois State University. I am now at McHenry County College. I volunteer at the daycare in my church. I was part of Best Buddies for 4 years, gaining experience with children with special needs. I have had internships in kindergarten, special ed., 2nd grade, 5th grade, and 8th grade classrooms. I taught in a preschool that was part of my high school (Neuqua Valley) for 2 years. Before COVID, I volunteered at Normal Library for Partners in Reading and the Children's Discovery Museum; both gave me experience with individual work with a child and groups of children. Since 10th grade I have been taking human development classes. I am currently working on a major in early childhood, a minor in environmental science, and endorsements in ESL (English as a Second Language) and special ed.
