More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Relevant experience where I also cared for children includes my work in school programs where I supported children with their daily routines, homework, playtime, and emotional needs. I’ve cared for groups of elementary , middle school, and High School students which also involved working with students with special needs. I always made sure they felt safe, seen, and supported. I prepared snacks, supervised activities, helped guide behavior with patience and kindness, and built strong, trusting relationships with both children and their families. Caring for kids has always come naturally to me, and I take pride in being someone children feel comfortable with and parents can trust
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Activities I enjoy doing with children include arts and crafts, outdoor play, reading together, helping with homework, imaginative play, and simple games that encourage creativity and movement. I also love doing calming activities like drawing and storytime. As an English major, I always encourage the art of reading and storytelling. I also encourage one-on-one conversation that helps children feel heard and confident.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is ensuring a child’s safety above all else, while also building trust, offering consistency, and creating a space where they feel deeply cared for and supported. A space where they are heard and never ignored.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with special needs children includes providing one-on-one support to help with transitions, behavior regulation, homework, and social interactions during after-school programs. I helped modify activities so every child could participate, used positive reinforcement and calming strategies when students felt overwhelmed, and worked closely with my team to maintain consistent routines. My goal was always to help students feel capable, included, and safe.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment occured when I was babyitting a seven year old boy that was having a difficult time missing his mom and dad. I sat down and listened to his worries and conerns, then I offered to read a few books on being homesick that I found which he gladly accepted. One book became twelve, and before long we were a grand adventure. We built a pirate ship out of the couch and continued into the night, defeating all manner of foes until it was time for bed. At bedtime he hugged me and went to sleep almost immediately. I love this memory because this was my first time babysitting outside of family, so I was also nervous. But by the end of the night nerves were gone all-around.
