I have worked as a teacher at a daycare facility for close to a year now. I have worked with a range of ages but mainly in the toddler room (9 month-2 year olds) and Pre-k room (4-6 year olds).
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Reading, arts and crafts, age appropriate science experiments, pretend play, going for walks, and tag are some of my favorite activities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe that each child has different needs in regards to the care that is best for them. Being a nanny allows me to focus on those children's needs and help them to grow.
My experience with special needs children...
At my daycare I have had several children with special needs in my classroom. Also while not a job my older brother is autistic and I have been helping look after him my whole life growing up. The most important thing is being patient and understanding and working with the parents to learn what works best for their child.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I cared for a boy for over 2 years before his family moved. On a recent visit here that little boy asked to come spend a day with his former nanny. It warmed my heart more than I could say to see he was just as excited to see me again as I was to see him. I'll never forget it.
