Hi! My name is Alex, I am a 20-year-old Christian junior at USF majoring in health sciences to become a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Pediatrics. I have worked with children for a little over a year. My previous job was at the HOST (Hillsborough Out of School Time) program at an elementary school where I would watch around 20-30 kids at a time, ranging from 5-11 years old. I am certified in Child Development, Health and Nutrition, Safety Practices, and Transportation Safety in the School Readiness Program. I was CPR certified, though it has expired because I am coming up on two years since the certification, but I am willing to do the training again. I love working with kids because I genuinely believe that I can make a change in their lives by teaching them how to handle their emotions in a healthy way and be a trusted, safe adult for them. I can provide fun and mind-active recreation to ensure your little ones are constantly engaged and learning.

There are so many different aspects as to why nannying is important. Not only do I get to be a part of a child's life, but I can also help some tired parents in the process. I love caring for children because they truly are the light of this world. It is so fulfilling for me to be able to be an extra person in a child's life to support them and just listen when they feel like no one else is listening.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I always found myself having the deepest connections with the more troubled kids. One day at HOST we were going back inside from recess and I saw one of my kids out of line, kind of squatting down near the grass area at the edge of the pavement. So, I went up to him and asked "What are you doing out of line?" And he responded, " You told me that when I get too mad at someone to just remove myself from the situation so that I don't get in trouble." And he did just that. He was a child that struggled with minor anger issues that sometimes resulted in physical violence. Hearing and seeing him fully put my guidance into action was one of the most fulfilling moments in my childcare career.
