I am a sister of 2 and have participated in taking care of children at birthday parties and on dates.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Going to the park, the beach, and the pool. I have access to an indoor pool near my house (for free.). I love playing football, soccer, basketball, and literally any sport. I enjoy coloring with the kids, playing dolls, cars, anything. I can take the kids out to eat (with permission of course). I can take them bowling or mini golf.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The important part of being a nanny, is not forcing the kids to behave, it’s trying to understand them like they’re your own. It’s to enjoy what they like and nicely teaching them right from wrong. Kids are pure and fragile, they just need a little direction and lots of love!
My experience with special needs children...
My mom’s friends son had autism. I used to babysit him for a couple of hours on date night. He would cry and cry till it hurt. I used to calm him down, make him laugh, and make sure he doesn’t feel like he’s alone. He point out things and try to name them, and I would help him by softly repeating the words back to him.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When the night was over, she told me that she loved and that I was the best babysitter ever. After I noticed she used sharpie to draw hearts on my arms, but it was still the best night.
