A little bit about me

I have over 5 years of hands-on childcare experience, both professionally and personally, caring for children of all ages in various settings. My journey began in 2017 as a live-in nanny, caring for a child from infancy to age 6. In 2021, I helped care for their second child from newborn to 3 years old. I also cared for my 8-year-old niece during summers, managing multiple age groups.

I have worked as a preschool teacher in a Pre-VPK classroom with 20 children aged 3-4. I hold a DCF background check and multiple state-approved certifications:

I love engaging children in activities that spark their creativity and curiosity. Whether it’s painting, coloring, or crafting, I enjoy encouraging self-expression through art. Outdoor play is also a favorite, whether we’re running around, playing games, or simply exploring nature. I incorporate music and movement into playtime with dancing and singing, helping children build coordination while having fun. Reading and storytelling are important to me, as I love bringing stories to life and fostering a love for books. I also enjoy hands-on learning through simple science experiments, building activities, and problem-solving games that encourage critical thinking. Sensory activities like playdough and puzzles help develop fine motor skills, while dramatic play, such as dress-up and role-playing, allows children to use their imagination and build social skills. No matter the activity, I strive to create a fun, nurturing environment where kids can learn, explore, and express themselves.

The most important part of being a nanny is helping prepare little ones for life not just by teaching them practical skills, but by guiding them through big emotions, encouraging their unique qualities, and showing them how to support themselves, their loved ones, and the world around them. Every day is an opportunity to help them navigate their feelings, build confidence, and learn kindness and empathy. It’s about creating a safe and nurturing space where they can grow into their best selves while celebrating what makes them special. And just as they are always learning, so am I - being a nanny has taught me that the journey of growth and discovery never truly ends.

My experience with special needs children...

My experience with special needs children is limited, but I have worked with a special needs child in my Pre-VPK classroom. While I was not specifically trained in special education, I adapted to their needs by providing patience, support, and individualized attention. I recognize the importance of inclusivity and creating a nurturing environment where all children can thrive. I am eager to learn more about working with special needs children and am open to training and professional development to better support them in the future.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was when I took the two children I cared for a 5-year-old and her 2-year-old sister to the Sanford Zoo for the first time. From the moment we arrived, the older sister was buzzing with excitement, eager to be the "tour guide" for her little sister. She took her role very seriously, pointing out animals, sharing fun facts she had learned, and making sure her sister got the best view of everything. The toddler was completely enamored, her eyes lighting up at every new animal she saw. Watching them interact- one so proud to teach and the other in total awe - was such a special moment. They asked endless questions, giggled at the playful monkeys, and even got to feed the giraffes, which quickly became their favorite part of the day. It was incredible to see them so engaged, having fun while also learning so much. That day reminded me just how magical it is to watch children explore the world with curiosity and wonder.
