Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was an au pair for two different families in Italy. I nannied for a darling boy in Washington. And have worked as a substitute teacher in Utah for the past year with all ages of students.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love coloring with kids I may not be an artist but I do love to stay within the lines! Outdoor activities are also one of my favorites as long as the weather cooperates! Biking, chalk, going to the park or even just kicking a ball around. Even if we are not amazing at a certain activity I love showing ways we can improve. Seeing the pride a child has when they accomplish something even as small as hitting a ball. While I’ve substituted many of my peers have shown me how different children learn and how you can teach them individually how to read write and comprehend lessons.
The most important part about being a nanny...
It is very important to me that any child feels comfortable around me so they feel they can express emotions, tell me if they’re hurt or in need of something. I think it’s all around important so they also feel that we can play but also when it comes time to listening we can communicate.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with several classrooms with special needs and one on one as a tech to help children who need a little extra attention while learning.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Once the child I nannied for who was very shy has warmed up to me he started looking out his glass door for my car to pull into the driveway and would start calling my name excitedly when I got there. We were both emotional when he had to start school so on my last day he gave me a present he’d wrapped himself.
