A little bit about me

Hi there, I am looking to become part of a new family! A little more about myself, I'm Allie. I've been working with children for over 15 years, and for 2 years, I was a teacher at a preschool. I've worked with infants up through 8 year-olds most recently. In the past, I have been a nanny for older children as well, ages 9-15. Prior to being a preschool teacher, I worked at an educational toy store. I'm a big fan of crafts and love making up games with the children to inspire learning and fun. In 2014, I graduated from Benedictine University with a BA in social science. I have a 2020 Hyundai Kona and am more than willing to drive as needed. I am also okay with pets. We have 3 cats now, but I grew up with both cats and dogs. If there is anything else you would like to know, please do not hesitate to ask!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a preschool teacher for two years. The first year I was the lead teacher in the wadler/toddler room as well as helping out in the infant room. My second year I was a co lead teacher in a pre-k classroom.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing crafts. I've learned through the years that art and crafts can teach many different skills from colors, counting, and textures, all the way to self expression. I also love reading, imaginative play, and out of the house activites such as a walk or going to explore a park or the mall on rainy days.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is being there for the child and family. Besides mom and dad a nanny is the person the child spends most of their waking time with. They need someone e they can look up to. Someone to set a good example. Someone who cares for them and isn't just there for a paycheck.

My experience with special needs children...

I took a class in college called "Survey of an exceptional child" which taught about different special needs and the forms they come in. Personal experience I have dealt with children that had minor learning disabilities as well as add/adhd, emotional disabilities, and with prosthetic limbs.
