A little bit about me

Hi, I’m Allisandra, but you can call me Alli! I have more than 10 years experience in early childhood care/education. My dream is to one day have a degree in early childhood education. I am currently teaching at a toddler care/preschool in Maine and am working towards an Infant Toddler Care credential, with the hopes of starting CDA training shortly after. I am CPR/First Aid certified. I believe the pathway to love in this world is found through childlike wonder and joy, fostered by compassionate, creative, and communicative care. I want to help create an environment that is loving, encouraging, and supportive for your kiddos, and document their developmental milestones to prepare them for their next educational journey. I am familiar with Reggio Amelia/Waldorf inspired theory and curriculum and Teacher Led-“Creative Curriculum” supported by current MEL standards. No one knows your kiddo’s needs better than you, so a true partnership between caregiver and families is what I strive for!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Providing compassionate care and communication with kids and their families. Knowing you can trust your kids to be loved and encouraged in a way you’d do yourself is the most important part! It takes a village!! Of course remembering that the first 3 years are where the brain is molded the most and how important all the developmental stages are at that time! Documenting all milestones is a huge part!!

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for children with developmental disabilities such as autism and chronic anxiety.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment, gosh so many to choose from! Every day I work at the center with the kids (age 1-1.5) I see or hear something amazing/silly. I think seeing our class get so giddy and excited about meeting our class Guinea pigs was the sweetest thing! They exclaimed “piggies!!” excitedly, and watched them run around the cage, pointing out their beds, water bottles, and cages. I also love watching the kids at our center learn through each other;mimicking and making faces to convey emotions. So sweet!

Amanda H. - Seeking Work in South Portland

Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in South Portland, ME: Amanda H.

My name is Mandy and at work, I love to have fun, plan out activities and crafts, and get outside! My biggest strengths are my creativity, knowledge of childhood development, communication, and compassion. I’ve dedicated the past 5 years of my life to childcare, having worked with infants, through middle schoolers. I love to join in, and make every learning experience engaging, and exciting. My first 3 years being at a preschool accelerated my skills in lesson planning, quick problem solving, and having eyes on every part of the room. Through working at an ABA company, I’ve been safety care trained, learned how to identify the function of a behavior, and how to respond in a way that promotes trust, safety, and happiness. Regardless of the behavior being good, or maladaptive, I find a way to work through that makes everyone happy. I would love to hone in on my skills to help a families life become a little bit easier, and happier.
