More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been the babysitter for a singular family for the past 5 years. I did meet this family when their oldest daughter was 1, she is now 9. I helped out whenever the parents needed a break. Overtime it evolved to me becoming their babysitter permanently. They have 3 girls ages 9, 6, and 4. I cook, clean, helped with the dogs on top of the kids. I have also done plenty of overnight stays for the family. As their kids got older, I started to take them to and from school and daycare as well.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Personally, I love being outside. Going to the park, with permission of course, spending time at the local library, lunch dates. Staying inside on a rainy day making forts and having a little movie night with some snacks!!
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me I believe it is the ability to form a connection with the children and have trust with the family.
My experience with special needs children...
I have not personally worked with special needs children by myself. In highschool I did with a program I was involved in, but there was always a supervisor present. I do feel that I could easily handle a child with special needs as long as I am given proper instruction from the parents along with some tips and tricks.
The most important part about being a nanny...
A few years ago I was babysitting for a family friend and I took her son (6 at the time) to the park with some bread crumbs to feed the ducks. We were very careful about not getting to close, but I distinctly remember him throwing one piece at a duck and then running away because there were 2 more coming for some snacks. He had such a blast and couldn’t wait to get home to tell him mom our adventure of the day. It’s things like that, that make having a connection so much better. That bond is what kept us close.
