A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Ally I am a teacher and ABA Therapist specializing in child psych and development. I have been in education for over ten years starting as an assistant teacher in high school. I have worked as a lead pre-k teacher, division coordinator, special Ed liaison, and para educator with in the Westborough public school district and private clinics in the state, while working as a nanny/sitter on the side. The past year due to Covid I worked as a pod teacher for 2nd/3rd students, 6 children total, and one student was on the spectrum. It was bitter sweet having them back to school but I have missed the connection you have nannying with a family. I have worked with infants all the way to adult sped care.

I am hoping to find a family I can integrate myself in. I focus on fostering independence, social skills, and imagination. I am an advocate for developing life skills through day to day activities. I can provide all references and credentials and am open to any questions!

More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love science experiments and anything involving music as well as environmental exploration! I am big on keeping up with the times but also limiting tech use especially since there are so many ways to utilizes the world around your kiddos. I believe in teaching through experience and guidance. With a lot of my kiddos I have put together homemade safari kits to use on walks and adventures to help stimulate and expand on creative thinking.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Listening. Children tell us what they are experiencing through so many different forms of communication. I am there to guide them. To help them not to tell them who they are or who they need to become. Children need structure and to find their moral compass but I want to bring out their personalities and allow them to shine. Confidence is the number one goal for me. If I can help a child feel confident in themselves, their choices, and the world they are in I have done my job.

My experience with special needs children...

Starting out as a para educator within the Westborough public school system sparked a love of working with the special education population. Like I said I have worked in public school settings in regular Ed, integrated Ed, and learning center environments. After moving on from the public school setting I’ve worked in clinical and in-home settings with children to adults who have a wide range of diagnoses with varying severity. I am a huge advocate for supporting neuro-divergent children and finding a way to bridge the gap between our world and theirs. ABA is right for many but I have been working with various movements to create a more flexible train of thought for those around children who are on the spectrum. I am conversational in ASL and love to use it as a tool for children of all backgrounds.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My pod kiddos created a weekly weather show. We created a news room with crafts and boxes, and they wrote out silly news reports, eventually turning it into a little news program. We had a “broadcast party” every Friday with families after school to watch it. Everyone would show up in PJ’s and make some snacks to enjoy the absolute silliness!
