A little bit about me

I am a 21-year-old college student at UC Santa Barbara double majoring in communication and political science and I love kids! Currently, I am looking to work as a full time nanny during the summer (June through early September), and will continue to be able to help out after September, just not full time. Additionally, I am looking for work on weekdays and weekends until June (date nights, afternoons, etc - just not full day, unless it is Friday-Sunday). I worked at the UCSB Children’s Center in pre-school classrooms as a teacher’s assistant for a full year. I also have tons of babysitting experience with infants as well as elementary aged kids (5+ years). Furthermore, I worked 3 summers as a camp counselor and was in charge of large groups of kids at a time. In my free time I love to stay active, go to the beach, and hang out with friends. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

UCSB Children’s Center Teacher’s Assistant - helped in pre-school classroom with 10 children aged 3-4. Offered helped to infant classrooms as needed.
Babysitter for for all ages since I was 14 (I am 21 now!)
Tutor for all ages and subject since age 15.
Camp counselor for elementary aged children.
I have babysat up to 9 kids at a time.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love reading to kids, doing arts and crafts, going on walks, chilling at the park, and honestly whatever!!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure all the children feel comfortable expressing their curiosity and that they are in a safe environment while simultaneously having fun.

My experience with special needs children...

I spent two summers as a camp counselor at “Special Camp for Special Kids” where I was paired with a special needs individual and participated in various day activities with them. I was also co-president of “Friday Night Club” a 3 hour event every other Friday for special needs children of all ages that had sports, arts and crafts, karaoke, etc. My role was recruiting high-schoolers and obviously attending the events.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was reading one of my favorite kids the book “Green Eggs and Ham” and at the very end he looked at me and said “This is why it is no important to try new things, because you never know if you’ll like them. That’s why we have to try to new things.” I looked at him and said that’s absolutely right!! Moments like these warm my heart!
