A little bit about me

I am 19 years old, I am a certified lifeguard, and I'm going to school in order to be an elementary school teacher because helping children grow is my passion. I have two younger siblings who I grew up helping them with their school work, sports, and I taught them how to do many things such as cooking, art, etc. I am athletic as well, and very involved in outdoor activities. I love to read and write. Lastly, I'm hoping to get back into nannying in order to gain more time with kids to benefit me in the classroom later on.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a lifeguard, I've worked in classrooms (kindergarten & 1st grade), I have coached children's soccer (ages 5-8), and I've taught swim lessons to young children (ages 3-5, and 7-10).

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love playing outside with children, whether it's playing a sport, riding bikes, or going to parks. I also enjoy showing them fun educational games that I have been taught throughout my schooling, and nannying experiences. I'm always trying to figure out new ways to get kids involved with learning.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is focusing on the children's needs and the parents expectations. Children need so much, their brains are like sponges, so teaching children new things is one of my most favorite things and what is most important to me. Children are a lot more intelligent than we give them credit for.

My experience with special needs children...

I have helped with the special olympics at various YMCA's across Maine, as well as volunteering in the special education department at the surrounding elementary schools.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One time when I was babysitting for a family that I had known for essentially the entirety of my life, the little girl I was babysitting told me she had to use the restroom so I had brought her in there, however when I had gotten there I smelled something weird so I looked around, and she had already used the restroom, but she didn't use the toilet, she used the shower... I laugh about it now, but at the time it was really gross.
