I used to help my friends mom take care of her grandson who was special needs. He was special needs, but I never specifically asked how. By the age of four he still hadn't started talking and would use an iPad to communicate. He was my best buddy when I babysat and we had tons of fun watching Disney movies and playing with his toys.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was taking care of my cousins overnight, and my little one year old cousin woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep, so I took him out to the living room so he wouldn't wake his sister. We sat in a recliner together as I read him a book and he drank his bottle. Eventually he made his way back to his room, and let me tuck him in, before falling fast asleep.
