A little bit about me

I am a former teacher with. Master’s Degree. I taught school for 15 years. I also worked in a preschool for 4 years. I have worked with every age child and have been trained in First aid and CPR. I have 3 grown children of my own. Working with children is my God-given gift.
I do have a teaching job that I will begin in early August. Ideally, I will find a family that needs summer help and maybe one weekend a month after school begins.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Teacher with 15+ years experience with children, including 5 years in a preschool. Also worked with infants for 1 year. I have 3 grown children of my own. CPR and First aid certified with experience. With my years of experience, I have given Heimlich to a choking child, aided in injuries, and dealt with handicapped children in many forms. Extremely gifted and intuitive with children. I am very creative and love to teach children. I want learning to be fun and a game for kids. All of my preschool students learned to spell their names and read other classmates names by the time they were 3. I even taught some 2 year olds to read. I love doing crafts and outdoor activities. I even taught summer camps at the University of Arkansas for intelligent children. One summer I taught an African safari theme with 1st graders and taught them about African animals. Another year, I taught The Diary of Anne Frank and WW2 to 7th graders. If you want more than just a babysitter, you should hire me.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important factor when working with children is to love and understand the child’s needs. Every child has different needs and learns different. There are different factors that will motivate him/her. I instinctively can feel what a frustrated child is feeling and understand what they need. Love and empathy are the most important. Obviously, keeping them safe is important, but for me, that is a basic, entry level skill.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment was with a little girl that was very delayed academically. I taught here a big word, perseverance, and she was so excited. She made a sentence with the word and wanted me to record her reading it and send to her parents. Very proud moment for us both.
