More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I am currently “Mimi” to a family of 4. I provide child care 40 hours per week for 2 little girls, ages 4 and 8 years old. I’ve been caring for the little ones for 3 1/2 years. ‘cilla began preschool this fall, P has moved up to 3rd grade. I have also held an integral role of taking care of newborns when their mothers are in crisis. Whether it be Post Partum depression, a difficult time having the baby latch on or helping care for the baby when the parents feel the stress and pressure of having a newborn and are unable to work together to make sure baby is getting both of their full attention.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor activities that we enjoy to doing together include, board games, puzzles, reading, name that song, crafting, and imagination play.
Some activities we participate in outside are walking the puppy, finding fun playgrounds, riding bikes, visiting the zoo, collecting rocks and painting them. The listed activities above are just a few of many.
Little P is 3 1/2 years old and loves to go on “adventures”. Some of those adventures include going to the library for story time, 2-3 times per week. Choosing the books she would like to take home, playing in the interactive kitchen and grocery store.
When big sister P is home, we go putt-putt golfing, finding parks with playgrounds to have picnicsLittle P and big sister P both enjoy when we go to Lollipop Farm and hike the trail of the Fairy Garden at Mendon Ponds Park. Day trips to the Museum of Play are educational and exciting. Splashing in the water at Charlotte Beach is also quite entertaining.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is to make sure that the parents are truly comfortable with leaving their children in my care. To protect the child from situations that may cause bodily harm. To engage the child in activites other than just using technology for entertainment. Praising the child when they have accomplished a goal or an activity that they were striving to meet. Redirect a struggle that is upsetting to them that will provide them with a positive result. Again, these are just a few examples of the important aspects in my nannying experience.
My experience with special needs children...
At 15, I intermittently cared for JK a 13 old year old boy with Down’s syndrome. During summer breaks when his day program was only part time, I would spend time with him while his parents worked and occasionally on weekends. We would participate in activities just as I did with children younger than JK. It was important to keep him engaged with activities as he was easily distracted. I would provide positive redirection for JK when he found something was too difficult and became frustrated. JK thrived on silly adventures, positive attention and compassion.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Some of my favorite “Mimi” moments include when I came back from a 2 week trip to Ireland, I was so excited to see them and to share all of my adventures. As I opened the door, I was greeted with 2 little ones screaming and laughing (that reaction was not actually for me) they were showing off their new little ball of white fluff! A puppy!
My favorite moments with my own children as well little P. and big sister P.
are having them read, sing and dance with me. Baking (a mess can always be cleaned up), picking out their own clothes (even if they didn't match), building inside forts, going on scavenger hunts are wonderful. There are so many more memories and we continue to new ones everyday.

Part-Time Nanny Available in Rochester, NY: Kara P.
Hi! My name is Kara. Over the past 10 years I have worked as a caregiver to many families in the Rochester Region. For the past year I was working with a family with four children. The youngest were twins that were premature. I started caring for them when they were 3 days old. I was contracted to care for the babies for a year until they were completely up to par. I have a healthcare background. As well as being CPR/AED certified, I was a licensed CNA in Georgia. Since January I am a part-time nursing student at the University of Rochester. I set my own schedule as I am doing online learning. Ideally I would love to work part-time. Thank you for your consideration.
