More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I taught in a preschool for three years where my co-teacher and I taught a room of 2-3 year olds. From there I went on to being a nanny. I have experience with 7 month olds to 6 year olds.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Free, messy painting on big canvas, playgrounds, museums, reading, puzzles.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is being consistent, loving, and a safe place.
A healthy and communicative relationship between the caretaker and parents is of the utmost importance when raising a whole child. Children fair far better when all of their caretakers (parents included) are providing similar structure and giving the same guidelines. This ensures consistency for the child(ren) which then ensures safety for them. When a child feels safe, they feel confident.
While each child needs structure and routine, they deserve a fair amount of autonomy. Children are constantly being guided and regulated in one way or another which can be overwhelming and frustrating for them. However, when a caretaker can step back and look at each situation with the wisdom of adulthood and the wonder of child, it is easy to see many of ways that said situation does not need to be fully controlled by an adult. Giving children autonomy allows them to feel that they have some control over their life and their body.

Would have to be the many small and quieter moments-eating ice cream at the beach on a beautiful sunny day. Playing in Madison Sq. Park in NYC. Just taking a step back and seeing how much my kiddos have grown since our first day together.
