A little bit about me

I recently graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and am looking for part-time work, open to full-time, depending on the schedule! I also recently moved to down to San Diego and excited to be apart of the community here. I have about 6-7 years of experience working with children, ages 7 months-11 years old, as a nanny, teacher aide, and behavioral technician. I am a kind and compassionate person and am reliable and organized. I can help with cleaning, cooking, tutoring, and running errands as well. I enjoy caring for, playing and working with kids and am excited to help out as much as I can!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a teacher for second grade at Ruhkala Elementary during my senior year of high school. I have coached a few youth volleyball camps at the beginning of college. After college, I worked as a behavioral technician where I worked with children ages 4-5 with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Throughout the past 6-7 years, I have nannied for about 7 different families, ages 7 months-11 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Going to the park, arts and crafts such as painting, coloring, making bracelets or different crafts, playing games, educational activities, organizing rooms, activities outside such as riding bikes, walking the dog, or playing sports.

My experience with special needs children...

During high school, I cared for one child, aged about 15 years old, who had Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome. She would take the bus home from school and I would be there to help out after. I would meal prep, help with any homework, and hangout until her parents were home from work. She was very high functioning but lacked certain social and independent skills.

After college, I became a Behavioral Technician where I worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Clients there were aged about 2-14 years old and everyone had different levels of functioning and types of behaviors. I learned how to handle difficult situations, problem-solve quickly, and implement specific interventions to aid in independence and behavior modification.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment happened about a few months ago, I was picking up the girls, that I had been nannying for about 4 years, from their softball game. The team they were on had multiple kids that I had also nannied for in the past. As I walked up, both girls that were in the middle of the game ran up to me, as well as 4 or 5 other girls I’ve babysat in the past, all swarmed around me to give me a big hug and say hi. It was the sweetest thing ever and it made me really appreciate what I do and realize the kind of impact I make on them and vice versa!
