A little bit about me

My name is Aniya, but most people call me Niya. I have my master’s in criminal justice and my bachelors in psychology. I got into this field because I want to be a lawyer, but I also wanted to learn more about people, and how we think, specifically children. I love kids, I cannot wait to be a mother. I have plans on going to law school in the next couple of years.

I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old (I am 22 now), and nannying for 3 years. I became CPR certified for infants, children, and adults through the Gwinnett County Fire Department, and most recently through Cobb county. I love hanging out with kids and talking to them, even if they can't talk back. I love to read, write, and even clean. I used to play basketball, but now I spend a lot of time hiking and being outdoors. The holidays are my favorite time of year, shopping, movies, looking at lights, and just the atmosphere of the holidays in general.

I love animals, specifically dogs, so I don't mind them at all!

Prior to moving to college:

I used to volunteer in children's church (ages 2-14 years), I have worked with infants as young as 4 months old.

I babysat for a family of 4 (later 5) on and off for about five years, three girls ranging 1-6 years old. Last babysat Summer 2021*

I also babysat for my neighbors:
- Family 1: Two boys, 1 year and 4 years, for about three years. Occasionally their cousins as well, one girl, 6 y/o, 1 boy 4 y/o*

I think the most important part about being a nanny is being able to take weight off of parents and not only helping take care of their child(ren) but also being able to teach them as well and show you can learn and have fun at the same time.

I have worked with children that have aspergers, autism, ARFID, and ADHD.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was with one of the families I used to babysit with. After spending the day at the park, going on walks, playing dress up, coloring and playing with play dough, we sat on the couch to eat snacks and watch a movie. The oldest of the three girls (6; who was by far the most hyper) was cuddled up to me with her blanket, and her younger sister (4) was cuddled up on my other side, and they both fell asleep snoring mid movie. The youngest (2) tried to get in and winded up on my chest, and she watched most of the movie before all three girls were out like a light snoring. It was pretty cute.
