I did reading partners in high school. When I danced, I helped student teach some dance classes with my dance teacher. While I cheered, I did a few cheer camps for younger children. I have volunteered several times with different elementary schools in the Tulsa area. I volunteered at Catholic Charities for an adoption day. I have babysat/nannied off and on since middle school. I used to volunteer in the music class at McKinley Elelmentary school while I was in high school.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I feel that making connections with the whole family and not just the children is a really important part of being a nanny. I want the kids to know I am there with them, not just there to watch over them. Nannying is a very immersive job, rather than just a job you show up to and leave from. I would want the family to consider me family, and to consider them family as well. I think as a nanny, I always try to make sure the kids know they are always safe with me, and show the parents as well. Everything I do will always be in the best interest of the children.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a cousin that is autistic, and he hasn't connected with a lot of people, but he and I are very close. he moved to Texas, and that was really sad for both of us. I have also volunteered with autistic children. And I used to babysit a little boy who had autism.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I remember when I was in early high school, I was at my mom's friend's house watching a little boy who fought sleep so badly, and I remember sitting with him on the couch, while watching Frozen, and his mom came inside and was amazed that he was asleep so early. I ended up babysitting him for years after.
