other than a child’s safety which always takes precedence, for me it is very important for all children to have someone to talk to and turn to for play or comfort or simple company when things feel lonely or too overwhelming. Anyone who knows me knows I am very passionate about nurturing children’s inner worlds and providing emotional safety as well as physical. I believe staying in tune with your own inner child is essential, and so I try to provide every child with the care I would have appreciated when I was their age.
The most important part about being a nanny...
my mom would always sing a lullaby to me and so I sang the same lullaby for a two year old boy every nap time, and I didn’t know that it was something he enjoyed so much until I forgot one time and he whined and reached for me to come back and asked for the lullaby! I felt so sorry for forgetting but so touched that he found it soothing.
