A little bit about me

Hello everyone!
My name is Ariel and I am currently a stay at home mom to a 1 year old girl! I have decided that I want to start watching kids again and I'm super excited to start! Prior to staying at home I was a preschool teacher for ages 3-5 and I was a mental health technician for kids 4-17! Once I moved back to Topeka I started at community action as their infant and toddler teacher. I unfortunately did not keep that job very long as I wanted to stay home with my child. I have been working with kids for around 12 years now & im finishing up my degree to be an elementary teacher. I also am CPR & first aide certified! I absolutely adore kids and love to do all sorts of age appropriate activities with them! With my own child we do a lot of educational activities, dramatic play, art, and sensory activities. As well as getting outside and exploring the world around us. I would absolutely love the opportunity to share all of these things with your kiddos as well!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have spent many years of my life babysitting and nannying children. But once I got to college, where I am studying elementary education. I decided to choose a job that is solely about the kiddos. I worked in a mental health field for two years. It was such an amazing job. The kiddos I worked with ranged from 4 years old to 17 years old. They were mainly the same children for all two years. This job really helped prepare me for a wide variety of children. Not to mention I took care of these children over night and sometimes watched as many as six at once. On top of that I was also a preschool teacher for a headstart program in Manhattan. It was my absolute favorite job!! I loved working with the 25 sweet little 3-5 year olds. Helping prepare them for life and kindergarten was such a treat! Lastly, once I moved back to Topeka I worked as an infant and toddler teacher for community action. It was a brief job before I decided to stay home with my own daughter!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely love to do creative and energetic activities. I love to do activities that use our imagination. If that is dressup or a fun craft after looking at all the bugs in the park! Not only do I love to engage the kiddos in fun learning experiences like science activities. I absolutely love to be active with them as well! We can have a fun day going swimming or do something more laid back like playing with chalk and building pillow forts! The possibilities are endless!

The most important part about being a nanny...

It is so important to me to make sure these kids are comfortable. That they are not scared, nervous, or upset while in my care. I strive to make sure they enjoy spending the day with me and are excited to come into my care each morning. It is also important to me to make sure I spend each day teaching these kids, playing with them, and loving them as if they were my own. I know as a mother how terrifying it can be to leave your child in another one's care. Which is why I want to be able to give the parents a piece of mind as well. Your child's safety and well being are the utmost important thing to me. I can promise in my care they will be constantly watched after and there will never be a dull moment!!

My experience with special needs children...

Not only were there a couple of children in my preschool class with special needs. I happened to work with a couple kiddos for about 2 years with special needs in my mental health feild.
