My experience with special needs children...
While I don’t have formal professional experience working with special needs children, I do have personal experience. I grew up sharing a home with my stepbrother, who is autistic, and that taught me a lot about patience, communication, and the importance of understanding each child’s unique needs. Being around him daily helped me develop a deep sense of compassion and adaptability, as well as the ability to support someone through both calm and challenging moments. That experience gave me a real life understanding of what it takes to create a supportive, consistent environment where a child can feel safe and thrive.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when I cared for a little boy named Abighan. He was about one year old, and we spent a lot of time playing games and practicing new words. One day he started repeating the words I had been teaching him, and he even began saying his colors. It was such a proud and special moment for him, for me, and for his family. Moments like that are why I truly love working with children.
