A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Ashleigh! Let me tell you about me and my style of childcare.
I've worked with infants at 3 months and teenagers at 14 years, and just about every age in between.
Helping children grow is a passion of mine. For infants, watching them sit up for the first time, then crawl and walk; then, as they grow older, watching them run and speak; all the way to watching them learn to count, how to say the ABCs, how to read. It's all so rewarding to be a part of that process. And it never stops. Children of all ages are constantly learning from the world around them, and it is my biggest joy in life to be a part of that and to help them learn in a safe and caring (and fun!) environment.
In addition to general childcare, I'm comfortable with pets; performing light housework; taking kids to and picking them up from school, sports, and other events; helping with homework; and arts & crafts, among other things. I have a safe, new car and a clean driving record to top it all off!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

In addition to babysitting and nannying, I have worked for the past ten+ months (as of May 2020) as an assistant infant teacher at Primrose School of Braselton, where I have succesfully cared for up to six infants at a time by myself, and eight at a time with the help of a co-teacher. In this role, I've also floated between the rooms, gaining experience in ages from 3 months to 4 years, and everything in between.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love reading and doing crafts together. Winding up on the couch and watching a good movie is a great time, too. I'm also not opposed to hopping on an Xbox and schooling some kiddos. Outings are my favorite, though. I love going to the zoo, to the mall, even to the library.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure children feel loved, supported, and respected as they grow and learn who they are in this world, while also making sure their health, safety, and other immediate needs are the top priority.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for a few autistic children in my time at Primrose. I have learned a lot from their therapists on how to work with them without stunting their growth. I myself have a mild form of autism that, while rarely affecting me in my daily life anymore, allows me to be able to better understand the needs of children with the same condition.
I am also able to communicate through some basic sign language as I have taught a deaf child in preschool before.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Having a ten-year-old teach me how to play his favorite game, Minecraft, and in the process learning why it was so important to him and who he was as a person. It helped me become a better nanny, communicate with him better on a personal level, and find a way to dissolve stress he was incredibly susceptible to.
