More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have cared for children in many different environments and in different philosophies. For five years I had experience in a play-based environment with KinderCare. I was both a lead teacher and a curriculum specialist in my time there. I also have experience being a teacher in Reggio, Waldorf, and Montessori-inspired early childcare centers.
If I'm being honest I don't truly believe that one philosophy works best for a child. I think that all children learn differently and at different stages of their development different aspects from all learning philosophies can be beneficial to children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I have always believed that a child's environment is a large contributor to their learning. Being a nature lover, I have experience using the outdoors as a way to scaffold children's learning in many areas such as; gross and fine motor development, speech and language development, cognitive development, and when done with peers social and emotional development. Learning that takes place in the outdoors looks different at every age. 0-2 years of age It may look like exploring sounds, colors, textures, and shapes that nature provides. For 3-5, It may look like running and jumping while taking a nature walk and discovering new flowers or wildlife that we can expand on their learning indoors. Expanding on what they discover outside may look like getting some books about butterflies and learning about all the different breeds, life cycles of butterflies, and some creative activity around that.
Whatever it maybe I enjoy when activities are child-focused.

Part-Time Nanny Available in Orion Township, MI: Tammy D.
Full-Time Nanny Available in Orion Township, MI: Sarah B.
I’ve worked in Early Childhood Development professionally in some capacity since 1998. I did briefly try corporate America, but quickly realized my heart is in working with children and families. For the past 17+ years, a nanny and family assistant. I’ve worked long-term with seven different families, all of which would describe me as dependable, fun, committed, safety-focused, and kind.
In addition to providing attentive, developmentally appropriate care, I handle all child-related responsibilities as well as family laundry, meal planning and preparation, and a full household reset each evening.
I implement a loose curriculum centered around learning through play. I create lesson plans, display the children’s work, and share frequent photo updates throughout the week. I feel it is important that children are given the opportunity to learn about their community and practice social skills by going on adventures outside of the home.

I'm a Communications major looking for summer work to help with tuition. I am detail-oriented, engaging, adaptable, and excited to get to work with kids again! I love getting to find the fun in anything we choose to do, seeing the kids get so excited is one of the most fulfilling parts of the job.
