More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have two daughters of my own that are 14 and 19 years old. My mom was a babysitter so as far back as I remember I always helped her. And I babysat for 3 families here in town over the past few years in which there were multiple newborns and toddlers in each family. Each time I became very close with the children and really became part of the family so to speak.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love integrating having fun with learning so I often do all different kinds of arts and crafts with the kids when age appropriate. For example, I will bring my stamp collection and crayons, markers, etc and some blank cards and help the children write out and/or decorate sweet cards to their parents. I love reading to the kids and helping them to learn to read the books to me. I make clean up time into a game so it’s fun for the kids to be helpful. We do “abc” and “123” little songs so the kids can learn those. Everything is fun but geared towards learning as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is living up to the profound trust that is being placed in me. For a parent to allow me to be a part of their precious and irreplaceable child’s life is truly an honor and I know and respect that that is not an easy thing for a parent to do. So my goal is to always live up to the trust that each parent has in me and make sure that I do right by each and every child that is in my care by giving each child my full attention, care, love, loyalty, honesty at all times.

My experience with special needs children...

My mom babysat a severely autistic little boy when I was growing up so I also helped put with him. He was totally non verbal so I learned how to interact with him without having to use words and became very comfortable around him.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I babysat for the family that had 4 children all under 5 years old, it was a lot of work but after about a week of babysitting for the family, each of the children started calling me “ Mom” instead of “ babysitter”. It was just out of habit of course bc they were used to calling for their mom all day but it was precious to hear especially when all 4 would be hollering “ mom!!!!” all at once and I was like “ oh yeah, they are talking to me!!!”. I was able to transition them from “ Mom “ and “ babysitter” to my actual name, Ashley, which was lovely.
