A little bit about me

I have over 10 years experience caring for others. As far back as I remember I've loved helping others, it brings me joy to make someone else happy and to give them the same care I would give my own family. I started out babysitting for family and friends at 11-12 years old and haven't stopped, I'm always there when they need me. My professional experience was in Senior Care starting in 2008 until I switched to Child Care in 2021. I am currently working for a daycare and looking to branch out on my own for more flexibility. I am First aid/CPR certified and I just recently passed a background check. I am passionate about learning and teaching. I feel every adult that enters a child's life has the opportunity to make an impact so I love to use life as teachable moments. I also believe letting children be involved in their own care and making small decisions empowers them and helps reduce the fight. I am adaptable in pretty much all situations. I love doing arts and crafts of all kinds (I always clean up 🤪), exploring outdoors, learning, reading books, pretend play and anything the kids comes up with.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Understanding that the job isn't just feeding, changing and playing. As nannies we are taking on a big responsibility in helping shape these children. We must take that seriously and treat them as we would our own.

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have much experience with special needs children. I have worked with and been close with a couple of kids with Autism and Down syndrome but not enough to say I have experience. I do learn quickly and adapt to any situation.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have always taken care of my sister's kids when they go on vacation, she has twin girls and a boy. One such occasion they were going out of town with two other couples, my sister calls me and tells me they can't go because both of their sitters fell through. I must have been out of my mind at the moment but I agreed to watch all the kids. In total I had 3 9 year olds, 3 3 year olds an 11 year old and a 12 year old for 3 whole days. Turns out it was the best time ever!! I felt so honored that they trusted me to be able to care for 8 kids (my mom came to help entertain) on my own. The kids were amazing and we had a blast playing and finding fun stuff to do. I'll never forget that weekend.
