I was a volunteer at a daycare for a year in 2014. More recently, I worked as a preschool teacher before I moved to NC to work as an outdoor instructor at a boarding school for kids with ADHD.

I think the most important part is being able to help the parents the way they need to be helped and at the same time giving the children good memories. I like it to be a teachable moment for both myself and the children I'm caring for. I like to know that I made a difference in someone's life by making things a little easier for them.

I was in an elementary school, where my honors class was connected to a special needs classroom so we would go in there and help them with activities and going to lunch.

I took my nephew to the park and we collected sticks to build a home for a lady bug we found. He said it was his lucky day and it just made me really happy to give him that experience after he had a frustrating day of schoolwork.
