Hi, my name is Ashton Anderson. I am 18 years old. I play softball for Mountain View. I’m loving, fun, energetic, creative, with a passion for working with kids. I love building relationships and being someone they can look up to and trust. Since I was 13, I’ve participated in the programs/ ministries my church puts on. I’ve danced, sang, and put on plays as a stage hand for hundreds of kids during Vacation Bible Camp, been a group leader for a 26 2nd graders for VBC, and lead a 4th grade girls Sunday school class. Also, after every softball practice freshman year I helped baby sit 6 kids ranging from 18 months-4 years old.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Since I was 13, I have volunteered at my church during the programs/ministries they put on for the kids and community. I’ve been a group leader for about 26 2nd graders, taught a 4th grade girls Sunday school class, and helped babysit 6 kids from ages 18 months- 4 years old during freshman year.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love helping kids with their sports, building forts, crafts, reading, school help, watching their favorite show/movie, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Something that matters to me about working with kids is not only being their “babysitter” but growing relationships and bonding with those kids as well. Those kids could see a million faces come in to watch them for a certain amount of hours and not remember a thing about either of them, but imagine if you could be the babysitter than made a difference and a long lasting impact on that kids life.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment babysitting would have to be freshman year. I was helping my moms friend babysit at her house and there was a 18 month old boy who we suspected could have autism. He didn’t really get along well with the other kids, pitched crazy fits, couldn’t crawl, couldn’t hold his bottle on his own, etc. I took the time to try and grow a bond with him and it worked! It was settled- that was my new best friend. Day after day me and this child practiced crawling, holding his bottle by himself, and other little things. As time goes by this 1 year old had a whole personality flip. The day that truly gave me my passion for working with children was the day I was able to video that baby boy crawling towards me on his own and oh was he glowing with happiness. It was emotional for me because he would get so frustrated with himself but I knew he had it in him. There’s nothing more precious than child like happiness, faith, and a smile!
